Philosophy

As a nurse and acupuncturist, Mary's mission is to promote the healing art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and provide safe, effective, and reliable treatments, with an emphasis on client education and self care. TCM is a gentle tool to move the body, mind, and spirit from a pattern of dis-ease to ease. Mary believes our bodies are coded for wholeness and balance.

Specialization

Mary practices acupuncture as a generalist and enjoys seeing a wide span of ages and conditions. Many clients come to her with conditions resulting from stress, and poor nutritional and lifestyle choices. With a series of treatments, digestive and emotional health improves, and clients feel motivated to make healthier lifestyle choices.

Mary continues postgraduate studies in pain management, whole food therapy, mindfulness practices, and exercise therapies.

Testimonials:

“Mary is an exceptionally dedicated practitioner.  She asks many questions and takes the time to understand issues and resolve problems.  Mary is compassionate, caring and extremely attentive to her patients and their well-being. Mary treated me for intense and consistently reoccuring migraine headaches, and I have seen significant relief!  I recommend her as an acupuncturist, without hesitation.”

"Mary gave me a fabulous acupuncture session...and it really helped my energy level get stabilized. She is amazing, her hands seem to be able to find the points and find the problems."

"This past week I experienced a headache every day and sometimes all day. The following is my experience today: I decided to try something new and made an appointment with Mary. I went into the experience very curious. Mary's explanation to me on an earlier date had calmed my anxiety I might have had about needles. I felt no pain when she inserted needles and felt very calm laying down listiening to music for about 20 minutes. Then she did a little acupressure massage on some points which felt lovely. When I sat up, I couldn't believe it, my migraine was gone! I don't even have the "hung over" feeling I sometimes get after a headache."

"My name is Paige and I am 12 years old. I came to acupuncture because I had extreme pain from menstrual cramps.

My mom was looking for a way to help minimize my pain. We tried going to the doctor, and we did as we were told. It didn't help. Then my mom found out that acupuncture could help. She found The Healing Space on Main.

The first treatment I had took about an hour and a half. Mary first asked me a lot of questions. She told me that this was so she could figure out the best way to treat me. After she was finished with the questions, she told me a little about acupuncture, and that I shouldn't be afraid. The needles are as fine as hair, and some needles you can't even tell are there.
I was led into a very relaxing room. I was told to take my shoes off and lay on a bed in the middle of the room. Mary then started swabbing off possible places she could put the needles. The very first needle that she put in was around my ear. She told me that this was a calming point. The needle entry was not painful at all.

Mary put needles in many different places, including my wrists, around my elbows, ankles, feet, and stomach. All of these needles were virtually painless. When she was done putting in the needles, I felt very sleepy. Mary said that some people feel sleepy during treatments. She also said that after the treatment, I could feel energized or mellow. I felt mellow.

Acupuncture really solved my problems. After five weekly treatments, I felt absolutely no pain with my period. I could actually get up and do things, which I couldn't do before.
I think acupuncture can solve a great deal of problems. Nobody should be afraid to try it."
